THR has learned that Jessica Lucas is in talks and Elizabeth Blackmore is set to head into the woods for director Fede Alvarez. While Blackmore is a relative newcomer – most of her work has been on Australian television – Lucas is best known for playing Riley Richmond on the Melrose Place reboot that ran from 2009 to 2010. The new film, which is being produced by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, is about a group of five friends who travel to a cabin in the woods to help their drugged out friend (Levy). While there, however, they discover the book of the dead an unleash an ancient evil. Should the deal be completed, Lucas will play Levy’s best friend, who also happens to be a nurse, and Blackmore will play Fernandez’s fiance, who is “new to the group.” Production will begin this April in New Zealand.

Another actor is in talks to join the cast of the Evil Dead remake:

“Thumbsucker” star Lou Taylor Pucci is in talks to join the young ensemble of FilmDistrict and Mandate Pictures’ reboot of “The Evil Dead.”

Jane Levy (“Suburgatory”) and Shiloh Fernandez (“Red Riding Hood”) were recently cast in the pic, which is a reinvention of Sam Raimi’s 1981 cult classic about a group of teens at a remote cabin who discover a Book of the Dead that unleashes demons they can’t control. While the new plot is similar to the original, it is a new take that doesn’t include the Ash character played by Bruce Campbell.

Pucci will play Eric, an intense academic whose intellectual curiosity gets him and his friends into trouble.

Lily Collins to Play The Lead Character in the Upcoming Evil Dead Remake

By News

According to Bloody Disgusting, Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Priest, Mirror Mirror) is in final negotiations to play “Mia” the lead character in the upcoming Evil Dead Remake.

In this version, the story centers on five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead with a demonic force unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. As we also exclusively reported, there is a drug subplot.

As previously explained, David is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie. Mia is the friend who is heading to the cabin to detox; Olivia is her best friend/nurse. Eric, presumably, is the kid who unleashes the demons.

After a recent overdose, Mia struggles with her new-found sobriety. She begins acting insane, so it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her!
