Any books or novels with similar monsters or themes to evil dead?

H.P. Lovecraft invented the Necronomicon and I love most of his stuff, but it is not really the pure Evil Dead experience (as long as you want dark humor, gore, deadites etc.).

    Evil Dead Rise

I have mixed feelings about it. I saw the opening gag coming from miles. I thought the demonic POV-shot would turn out as an insect before being casually smashed by the folks at the lake. The reveal showed something else. Maybe I got old but most the times I dislike modern day technology in a...

    Evil Dead Rise

I wish the German home media release would come so fast. I do not want to sit alone in a cinema, but unfortunately my wife hates horror movies and I fear most of my friends are not so much into gore flicks either.

    Who played Linda better?

Oh cool, that's new to me. Do you know anything specific regarding the content of those scenes? Additional prologue scenes? Maybe even with Linda being possessed?

    Evil Dead Rise

Yeah, if I recall it correctly the second half of the original film only became such a gore fest because with only Bruce left of the cast there was not anything else to do but to put someone else in deadite make up and spend the rest of the film with effect work.

    Evil Dead Rise

@Hurley and @DyD: My English is not good enough to give my opinion in a way that is eloquent enough. But I think I see it the same way you do. I even think that there is a even deeper point that revival products like AvED have in common with all the other sequels or remakes of decade old...

Should Beth be the series lead now?

I have not seen the film yet. But it is an excellent question. I am interested what you guys think.

    Evil Dead 2

That‘s the reason why I prefer ED2 over ED. ED2 is a good movie with b-movie production value. ED is a mediocre movie with c-movie production value. I love both. But in case of ED I enjoy all the behind the scenes stuff way more than the film itself. Without the nostalgia, the respect for the...

    Evil Dead 2

My favorite iteration of the franchise, although I only had seen it for the first time after watching AoD dozen of times. One thing often missing from many reviews: It’s written so well and compressed. A big chunk of the movie is carried by only one actor / character with only a handful of...

    Evil Dead Rise

Thanks! Just listened to the clip on the website. I would love a sequel in this setting and with this tone. ED combined with early 20th century old school Lovecraftian / gothic horror.

    Evil Dead Rise

I‘ve just read that Lee already stated the possibility in an interview.

    Evil Dead Rise

Great review! Thank you. Can you tell more about the content of the vocal cameo? Is it really a known character or could it be a random person?

    Evil Dead Rise

If EDR is a good movie my dream scenario for a sequel would be: Bruce coming back as Ash but as a different, alternate version of Ash more serious and mature in tone, meaning more in line with ED2 than with AoD and AvED.
